We call the positive move in rethinking, redesigning, and rewiring our industry’s footsteps on our beautiful planet, the #SEAChange. Whilst many of you might think that it is easy to have the conversation which begins with, “you should join the #SEAChange because you need the planet,” well, we want you to know that it wasn’t and, surprisingly, still isn’t easy. We are at a place in history where some within industry and some of the public are not aware or convinced that the future of sport is inextricably reliant on a healthy planet.
Having first asked Australasians, in 2008, about their thoughts on the relationship between the natural environment and sport, we finally launched the Sports Environment Alliance seven years later in 2015. As a result, the last nine years have afforded us many lessons learned. Let us share with you the top 5 from what we have learned in our journey to ignite a small spark which contributes to the #SEAChange, and we hope that it helps rev the eco-engine in your part of the world, and together we can set the movement ablaze.
