Willem Huisman joined Dow in 1995 as a field sales trainee for Thermosets in Horgen, Switzerland. He subsequently held a large number of marketing and commercial positions in several Dow global business units, such as Polyurethanes and Chemicals & Performance products. In 2007, he was appointed Sales Director for the Basic Chemicals & Polyurethanes business in Western Europe.

Today, his extensive experience includes research & development, commerce, new business development, project management, as well as people, country and site leadership.

In July 2012, he took office as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dow Benelux, and in June 2014, he was named President and General Manager of Dow in Germany and Chairman of the Board of Dow Deutschland Inc. with its headquarters in Schwalbach, Germany.

Huisman serves as board and executive member in a number of external organizations:

• Member of the CEFIC Research & Innovation Programme Council
• Member of the Executive Committee and the Trade Policy Committee of VCI, Germany
• Member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of AmCham Germany
• Vice Chairman of the Bundesfachkommission Umweltpolitik des Wirtschaftsrates Deutschland

He holds a master's degree in chemistry from the ETH in Zürich, Switzerland and a doctor’s title in materials science from the Institute for Nonmetallic Materials, also from the ETH.

Willem Huisman is married and has two children.
