Garry Connelly represents Australia’s motor sport federation (Confederation of Australian Motor Sport) at the world governing body for motor sport – the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (“FIA”). He has been a competitor and event organiser in motor sport and is currently the Deputy President of the FIA Institute for Motor Sport Safety and Sustainability and is its Environmental Ambassador. Garry is also a member of the FIA World Motor Sport Council and its Environmental Delegate.His other motor sport roles include Non-Executive Director of the Global Institute for Motor Sport Safety and Chairman of the Stewards for the FIA Formula One World Championship.

Garry’s background is in mathematics, physics and finance. He is a director of a number of companies in Australia, particularly in the Financial Services industry. In addition, Garry is a Non-Executive Director of the Australian Road Safety Foundation.In 2009 he was awarded the Order of Australia (‘’AM’’) for his services to motor sport. (This is the equivalent of the Legion d’Honneur or OBE.)
